Hot New Routes!

Flybe

Hot off the press, Flybe announced a major landmark deal with Air France. Effective from autumn 2010, this new deal will provide massive benefits to all those who use the airline across the UK. Allowing passengers to fly to France from 5 different UK airports as well as 11 new international destinations:

  • Aberdeen to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
  • Birmingham to Lyon
  • Edinburgh to Paris CDG
  • Paris Orly to Bordeaux, Limoges, Nice, Perpignan and Toulouse
  • Paris CDG to Brest, Budapest, Geneva, Istanbul, Lyon, Madrid, Munich, Nice, Nuremburg, Prague, Sofia, Vienna, Warsaw and Zagreb

Low Cost Carriers!

Easyjet

EasyJet have launched 8 new routes around Europe in Winter 2010.

It is adding flights to Lyon from Bristol and Liverpool, and to Basle from Edinburgh.

Passengers will now be able to fly to Hamburg, Gothenburg and Amsterdam from Manchester and to Gothenburg and Zagreb from Gatwick.

The routes to Gothenburg in Sweden and to Zagreb in Croatia are both new destination points for easyJet from the UK.

Lead fares start at £25.99, one-way, including taxes.

Jet2

Internet based airline provider Jet2 are introducing Hurghada and Bodrum routes out of Manchester airport.

The Egyptian Red Sea destination will become the low fares leisure carrier’s 50th route from the North West airport when flights start on October 15.

Fares start at £79.99 one way including taxes.

Flights to the Turkish resort of Bodrum start on May 16 next year with prices starting at £69.99 one way.

BA Launch into Mexico

From November 2010 British Airways will be launching a new service to Mexico. The new route will take passengers from London Gatwick to Cancun. Operating twice weekly using a Boeing 777, flights will commence on November 3 departing at 12:45pm UK time and arrive in Cancun at 5:45pm local time.

Emirates into Baghdad

From 1st July 2010 Emirates will be launching a thrice weekly service to Baghdad, Iraq, initially operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Dubai.

The service will be operated by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, offering 12 First Class, 42 Business Class and 183 Economy Class seats.

Eurostar prints at home via QBT

You now have the opportunity to book your Eurostar tickets via QBT and print your boarding pass from the office or home to provide a quicker and easier solution to carrying boarding passes before travel.

The print at home/office boarding pass has a bar code which can be used at the check-in gates at all terminals

US Begin charging for tourist Visas

The US will be charging $14 for electronic visa’s issued to any European traveller planning on visiting there from September 8th onwards. The electronic visa lasts for 2 years or until your passport expires.

Virgin Atlantic promote online check in by cancelling seat reservations!

Effective immediately , pre-assigned seats in economy class on flights from Heathrow will be released back into the seat map 13 hours prior to departure.

This means anyone with pre-assigned seats, who have not Checked In 13 hours before the flight will lose their allocated seats.

Passengers that have been unable to use Online Check In will have seats allocated when they arrive at the airport

BA’s Easy Board iPhone App

BA have recently launched a new app. for iPhones that enables you to check-in and receive your boarding pass, access live arrival and departure times and future bookings, as well as flight information over the next 8 days.Visit www.ba.com/app This service is also available on Blackberry’s and other android phones with the exception of check-in and boarding pass facilities which are only accessible on the iPhone.

EAST MIDLANDS TRAINS

East Midlands Trains are changing the way they operate catering services on-board their trains. Firstly, they will be serving breakfast for the price of £11 on trains leaving Sheffield before 0727 and Nottingham’s 0750 service. Secondly, standard class will be receiving food via a trolley service, and finally, catering vouchers will no longer be valid on their trains from August 23rd.

In addition, East Midlands Trains will be providing WiFi on their trains to and From London St. Pancras. Starting August 2010 with the upgrade being completed in December and will be charged as follows:

  • Per Journey - £4.00
  • Daily - £7.50
  • Monthly - £40.00
  • Annually - £425.00

(Prices will not increase with the VAT rise in Jan 2011) Due to new car park barriers being introduced at Chesterfield, Leicester, Market Harborough and Kettering stations, passengers who purchase parking with their rail ticket will need to validate their parking before exiting. You can do this at the ticket office, station managers office or by asking a member of platform staff.

Strengths:
I have worked in travel for 21 years, started in the retail sector then progressed to business travel in 1998. Joining QBT July 10.

Personal facts:
I am a keen cyclist and often do 30-40 mile round trips! I also have 2 dogs and enjoy taking them for long walks in the Yorkshire Dales whenever possible. I also enjoy watching live bands in local pubs!
