Routes

Heathrow - Vienna

From 28 March 2010 BMI are launching a new route between London Heathrow – Vienna, The route will operate 5 times a day, Seven days a week in conjunction with Austrian Airlines with regional connections available

More Summer Med routes for Easyjet

A number of Mediterranean leisure routes are to be started from the UK by Easyjet this summer.

The new routes include Liverpool-Bodrum,Bristol to Dalaman, Bodrum and Heraklion and Stansted to Bodrum, Dalaman, Dubrovnik and Split.

The new services means the airline will offer more than 500 routes connecting 19 bases across the UK and continent to key airports across Europe and North Africa.

New UK-Germany Air link

Stansted is to gain a new German destination as Germanwings seats up a new hub in Hanover.

Two flights a day will run to the low cost airlines’s sixth base in Germany, which opens on 29th April.

The carrier is to base three aircraft at Hanover-Langenhagen airport serving 15 destinations across Europe.

Doncaster move by budget carrier

Easyjet is to create a new base at Doncaster Sheffield Airport form next summer.

The budget carrier is to open five routes to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Faro, Palma and Prague. A fifth aircraft is to be based at Manchester to allow for new services to be introduced to Mahon. Sharm el Sheikh and Zurich from next spring.

Bed down in Economy class

Economy class lie-flat beds are to be introduced later this year by Air New Zealand

The carrier is to install the ‘Skycouch’, a specially designed row of three seats engineered to create a lie-flat, flexible space.

The airline says this will provide a place for children to play or a flat surface for adults to relax and sleep.

Twenty two sets of Skycouch seats will be available, being the first 11 window rows in the economy class cabin on new long range Boeing 777 aircraft to be introduced in November.

Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) compulsory

It is now mandatory for all British Airways passengers travelling to the United States under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) to apply for an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) 72hours prior to departure.

Passengers should visit US Visa Waiver and fill in the required information. In most cases a response will be received within seconds determining whether travel to the US has been authorized. If the application is not authorised then a visa may be requested through the US Embassy. In some cases customers will need to wait up to 72 hours for authorisation.

Chinese Visa Application

The Chinese embassy will be closed from February 15th to 17th inclusively.

Vietnam

The Vietnam embassy will be closed from February 15th to 19th inclusively.

Please submit all visa applications well in advance of the stated closed dates to ensure your intended departure dates are met.

India – Tourist Visa

Those holding a previous tourist visa now have to wait at least one month after it has expired before being able to apply for a new tourist visa.

Russia

Please ensure that the organisation which is stated on the invitation from Russia is also added to the UK company letter.

Also please apply well in advance of your intended travel date as the Ministry of Foreign affairs may delay processing on invitations with little or no notice

East Midlands Trains

WiFi now available at Sheffield and Chesterfield Stations

EMT are pleased to announce that customer WiFi is now availableat both Sheffield and Chesterfield stations giving customers added benefit.

Lowering the Cost of First Class Travel

East Midlands Trains have also introduced a new flexible First Super Off-Peak ticket from Nottingham, Beeston, East Midlands Parkway, Loughborough and Leicester stations to London. This ticket is up to 36% cheaper than the equivalent ticket available in 2009.
